The truck we rented was filled to capacity, and it still wasn’t enough for all the stuff we have! Because our move-in date was changed at the last second, we had to split our helpers! Half would help us move out, the other half would help us move in! |

One of the deciding factors in our new home - having enough rooms so I can have a craft room! Our realtor Shlomo knew that was important to us; he kept asking us if a place has one! It only seemed fit to give him a quilt as a thank-you gift! |
We bought our first home November 2002! It is tri-level with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, bonus room, living room with fireplace, formal dining, spacious kitchen, kitchen nook, patio, and a 2-car garage (rather rare for Santa Monica!). One of our favorite features - the master bedroom has vaulted ceilings!
Our original move-in date was December 22, 2002, but the seller extended the escrow at the last minute. Rather ironic, since one of the reasons why he accepted our offer was because we were only asking for a 30-day escrow (the other bidder was asking for a 45-day escrow!). Our move-in day was changed to January 2, 2003. It was a very stressful moment for us, since we already found tenants for our apartment; luckily, we were able to extend our move-out date to December 29. Thanks to Mark Phillips and his girlfriend Kellye, we were able to stay with them for the 5 days that we were "displaced."
Our new home requires a little bit of work. Our townhome was built in 1975 and the kitchen (which requires the most work) looked every bit from that decade! The microwave was a beast; the countertops needed replacement (formica - yuck!), the oven didn’t work, and the flooring needed to be redone. The kitchen pipes also need to be replaced - the piping from the dishwasher - I don’t know what they were thinking! What I’m going to try to do is post before and after pictures so you can track all our home improvements!
