The Nineteenth Month
Marina now insists on going up and down the stairs on her own and she'll do it completely standing up! Sometimes she'll hold on to the wall, sometimes she'll hold on to the rail. But she'll insist on showing us that she can do it on her own!
Marina loves showing off in front of visitors! She'll dance, she'll sing, she'll even play hide-and-seek. She looks so cute doing so!
Marina continues to learn by imitation. She loves "flossing" her teeth. It looks like she's already getting some good oral hygeine habits!
Marina's 18-month appointment was late in the month. Her stats on the 28th: 34", 25lbs, 9oz. Her doctor showed me her growth chart. She's the top of her class for height and 90th percentile for weight. She's a big baby, but she's proportionate. If she follows the 2-year height rule (double her height at 2 years old), she'll be at least 5'8".
On the 15th: Mike and Renee's wedding! Their ceremony was in Palos Verdes. We were probably the closest ones to the ceremony, but it ended up taking us an-hour-and-a-half to get there! It took us half-an-hour just to get to the 405 from the 10! We ended up just missing the ceremony (we arrived just as the wedding party were walking out! It was a nice outdoor chapel overlooking the ocean. Their reception was in Long Beach. It was a nice hotel and party. Renee is a member of a dance group. The group gave some nice dance performances. I couldn't take too many pictures because one of the lights was focused on our table.
On the 20-22: We drove up to Oakhurst Wednesday night. Mark, Ted, and Dan planned a hiking trip up Half Dome in Yosemite. It was an all-day hike. They left 5am on the 21st and didn't get back until after 10pm! Go here for a more detailed hiking experience.
On the 29th: Randy and Elena visited us for dinner. We walked the Promenade a bit. We ended up eating at Barneys. It was a nice visit with them. We hadn't seen them since Mike and Renee's wedding. Also, Mark's dad Roger had hip surgery on the 24th. The surgery went fine, but he reacted to the painkillers and he is having a rough time right now.
On the 30th: We went to Zander's First Birthday Party at Douglas Park. There were a lot of kids there. It was a nice park area with plenty of picnic space!
