Mark and Linda's Baby Shower - January 12, 2008
pics Jeanne and Darren Holt hosted our baby shower at their place in Rancho Santa Margarita. They did a wonderful job prepping their place for the party - Darren worked hard at replacing his carpeting with wood flooring in time for the party (he spent 3 months doing so on top of his full-time job), and Jeanne did a wonderful job decorating and preparing food! Jeanne and Darren are also expecting their first baby in June!Among the attendees of family and friends - Suzanne brought all of her girls, including her newest addition, 3-month old Mary; Linda McHaney and Keith McHaney, friends of the Shickler family since their time in Fountain Valley; Dan Shickler, who flew out from New York and spent 3 days out here (he's looking for a place to buy so he could be closer to family); Phuong Tran and Joy - Phuong has been a friend since our high school days at El Toro High; and Tom Ky, who had just recently had a baby of his own 5 days prior - Little Matthew (and understandably couldn't stay the whole party)!
Jeanne had everyone entertained with plenty of games at hand! First and foremost was the Clothespin Game where people couldn't say the word baby otherwise they'd lose their pins! Jessica was the winner of that game. Next was the Guess the Size of Her Tummy Game where people had to estimate the size of my belly. Roger Shickler was obviously not the winner, he claimed he was using Ted Shickler as his model; however, I don't think Ted was that big either! It was a very close game between Kathy Shickler and Phuong, the winner being Phuong. Next was the Word Unscrambler where I played in Kathy's place (I won, with Suzanne coming in second). Finally, the Old Wives' Tales where people had to guess what each prediction led to: boy or girl. The winner of that game went to Elise Shickler.
